Regal News For Our Everyday Superheroes™

Regal Security Inc. is pleased to provide a regular online newsletter for our Everyday Superheroes.™ Review it carefully and make sure you share the link with members of the team!

In a few days March will kick-in and that means we will start seeing more sunlight and of course the temps should start warming up a bit.

While spring is not far off, we are reminding everyone to follow weather conditions as we are still in winter mode. Dress accordingly for your shift and leave for work early in the event of extreme weather conditions.

As we all know, certain regions are slowly starting to open up; however, we must always remain vigilant in following the rules and guidelines that help in combatting the spread of COVID-19. This means that everyone is to wear a mask at all times on shift, and social distancing rules remain in place. Also, remember to always wash your hands and disinfect your work areas around the clock.

If you have any symptoms of COVID-19, do not come to work. Symptoms include a fever, dry cough, or tiredness. Less common symptoms include aches and pains, sore throat, headache, loss of taste or smell, a rash on the skin, or discoloration of fingers or toes. Serious symptoms include loss of speech or movement, chest pain or pressure, or difficulty breathing or shortness of breath. Contact your supervisor if you are not feeling well and we recommend that you consult with a healthcare professional and get a COVID-19 test right away.

Your safety is very important to us and we all need to work together as a team to play our part in flattening the curve for COVID-19.

This issue of our newsletter is full of lots of information, so please take time to read it.

We appreciate the hard work and dedication of all our Everyday Superheroes™ – you are making our company shine and are helping us grow as a leading security guard firm.

Thank you everyone!

An outbreak anywhere can go everywhere!

We all know how easily COVID-19 can spread, so here are some tips that you need to follow to help keep you safe and to help flatten the curve.

  • Stay at home if you are sick.
  • Wear a mask or face covering.
  • Ensure you social distance with fellow employees (2 meters apart – 6 feet).
  • Wash your hands regularly (every 30 minutes for no less than 40 seconds to ensure proper hygiene).
  • Don’t touch your face or facemask as this promotes the spread of the virus.
  • Ensure your work-station – desk, chair, computer mouse and keyboard – is sanitized regularly throughout your shift.
  • Always make sure that members of your team are following the rules and guidelines at all times.
  • Make sure that clients and the public at job sites are also following the rules – it is our duty to help maintain a safe environment for everyone.

Let’s talk mental health

As we all know, the pandemic has had a major effect on our lives, and many of us are facing challenges that can be stressful, overwhelming, and cause strong emotions.

Stress can cause the following:

  • Changes in appetite, energy, desires, and interests.
  • Feelings of fear, anger, sadness, worry, numbness, or frustration.
  • Difficulty making decisions or concentrating.
  • Difficulty sleeping or nightmares.
  • Physical reactions, like headaches, body pains, stomach problems and skin rashes.
  • Worsening of chronic health problems.
  • Worsening of mental health conditions.
  • Increased use of alcohol or other substances.

If you need help with your mental health, Regal Security Inc. is here to listen. Speak with your supervisor or our Human Resources team if you are experiencing stress, anxiety, or depression. You are not alone – these are stressful times and our executive team wants everyone to know that help is available.

What about vaccinations for security guards?

Our entire industry is monitoring the rollout of the vaccine and we will keep everyone informed on the process. Regal Security Inc. and the Canadian Allied Professionals Union (CAPU) are working collectively with the government as security guards are considered an “essential” service and since we are the first, first responders. Please monitor our communications and we will alert you to any news on the matter.
